The other reason doing homework helps you to not be an Idiot

It is pretty obvious that the above photos have been photoshopped, but what about the picture below...

We live in an altered world.  What we see is not always reality.  Pictures and videos are no longer concrete evidence.

If you don't have enough background information, on the subject and the technology, it is easy to be mislead.

The internet is so full of amazing opportunities to learn and grow,  but we need to make sure that we  aren't falling into the trap of a false reality.   It is important for parents, teachers and really everyone to be aware of the latest technology so we  can detect the falsehood out there and help guide the younger generations through it.

I recently read an article on the Mind Shift Blog that talked about how learning critical thinking skills helps people combat misinformation and different ways these critical thinking skills can be taught.  What's significant about that is, blogs like that are a tool we can use to keep up on things that are relevant in our fast changing lives today.  We can build up our Personal Learning Network (PLN)  to be inspired, keep up with trends, join a community, and learn new skills that we can use everyday.

  1. April, I loved reading your blog posts! You have the perfect mixture of humor and knowledge sharing, your posts were totally entertaining! Your blog is super cute and very catchy. Is this knowledge from before this course or is this just what you have learned since starting our blogs?

    1. Thanks Kara! I would say that some of the knowledge is from before the course and some stuff was from this course. I don't know that I ever heard the term Personal/Professional Learning Network before this course.

  3. Hi April,
Pretty cool blog. I sure wish I had your creativity. You make a very interesting point about doing your research. We are so inundated with false this and fake that. It’s really becoming quite difficult to establish what is genuine and what is not. Abraham Lincoln was sure tech savvy though. I’ve always liked the one where he is taking the first selfie and it says “please don’t say this was photo shopped because photo shop didn’t exist back then”. Thanks for the reminder to make sure you’re developing a PLN with legitimate sources. Great work. Steve

  4. I love your creativity! Your post was very thoughtful and you make valid points about using information from reliable sources. It is a good warning to people, helps them open their eyes so they do not get pulled into a world of false realities and poor information. PLN's should be a network of trusted individuals with a background in whatever topic it is you are needing, or even likeminded people looking for ideas on training employees, classroom activities, or an industry related topic.
