A little privacy please!

The world is so much more connected than it was in the past due to the internet! There is so much information sharing going on that we sometimes forget how unsafe it can be.  As we become more connected, we are also making ourselves more vulnerable to becoming targets. We sometimes put more trust into technology than we should.

The data market is booming so the more data collection websites can do, the better. Social media websites want more site traffic and don't always have your security in their best interest.  Even when a website has great security measures, they can still be hacked into and information can be stolen.

People who have had bad things happen to them from sharing their information, didn't believe that anything would happen to them, but something did. People have been blackmailed, people have had their identities stolen, people have had money taken, people have had their technology devices taken-over, people have been stalked and even killed.  I just wanted to create this blog post as a friendly reminder to check your online security.

  1. Great post. I liked your links also. I think this only gets worse too. The younger generations approve anyone to follow them if they even have restrictions set up. The more this happens the more identities will be stolen and information shared everywhere. Great Blog for point all of this out.

  2. Great post with great information! I have a friend who blogs for a living and uses her 5 year old in many of the pics on her blog, it has always made me so uneasy! I'll run across a picture of her on Pinterest and think, that kid has had no say what has been posted about her! It makes me aware that I have done the same thing on Facebook with my own children and justified it as my profile is set to private but really it it any safer?

I cannot agree anymore with your post!! I personally think that people overshare EVERYTHING!! We all have that friend who posts at least one picture of their child everyday. I mean there's nothing wrong with that, it's just a scary world. Your post will be a good refresher for anyone posting online.
